On the afternoon of November 29, 2023, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a University-level panel discussion on teaching methods for lecturers in the engineering sector for the academic year 2023-2024.
Participating in the discussion were Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau - Vice President of TDTU, and esteemed leaders and lecturers from several units under the University.
Speaking at the discussion, Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau shared the university’s the policy of innovating teaching methods to ensure the quality of education, fulfilling societal commitment to providing education at international standards. “The quality of education stands as one of the paramount and crucial objectives of the University. It’s essential for the University to ensure educational quality aligned with international standards and our commitment to students and society. This involves designing programs aiming at improving and innovating teaching methods, along with policies that support and encourage lecturers to enhance their teaching skills and teaching methods, especially newly recruited lecturers.”, remarked Dr. Dong Si Thien Chau.
At the discussion, 4 panelists from the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics presented the topics (in turn): “Plickers - an application in teaching”, “Why-How-What-Concept (Golden-Circle - Based teaching & learning approach)”, “Teaching and learning methods that help students promote initiative, creative thinking and innovation”, “Active learning in groups based on problem solving” with the purpose of introducing typical teaching methods and models, and the application of information technology in teaching, thereby creating conditions for lecturers to exchange and share experiences.
Public lecture activities have been being carried out regularly in order to evaluate and spread the quality of teaching and learning, striving towards solutions that enhance the quality of higher education. The plan to organize University-level public lectures for the academic year 2023-2024 is intended to provide units within the same field with opportunities to exchange experiences in teaching methodologies, thereby contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning, meeting international education quality standards (such as AUN-QA, FIBAA, ASIIN), and benefiting both educators and learners such as improving lecturers’ teaching skills, fostering enthusiasm, promoting students’ positivity, initiative, and creativity.
