At the National University Championship (NUC) in 2023, the women's basketball team of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) excellently clinched the championship in the Southern Region and made a mark in the national final by securing the runner-up position.
In the 2023 NUC, 141 teams from universities, academies, and colleges nationwide participated in the qualifying rounds held in three regions (Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City). The aim was to promote the sports movement among the intellectual youth, with the goal of organizing the National University Championship according to international standards. This served as an opportunity to establish a healthy sports environment, promote physical development, foster a love for sports, and allow students to contribute to the growth of the basketball community within the country.
In the championship match, the TDTU women’s basketball team completely conquered the national audience with a captivating playing style, employing beautiful ball transitions, utilizing fast breaks, and optimizing the small-ball lineup. The talented shooters of TDTU, which include Phan Hoang Tuyet Minh and Hoa Phan Thanh Vy, showcased impressive scoring techniques.
Before that, in the Southern Regional Championship Final, Phan Hoang Tuyet Minh scored numerous points, surpassing over 700 athletes to become the outstanding player of the Southern Regional qualifiers. She also played a crucial role in TDTU’s championship journey.
The athletes, who are students at TDTU and members of the TDTU basketball team, are provided with the best training conditions to foster comprehensive development of both intellect and physical strength within the university’s sports complex. This complex includes a multipurpose indoor arena, basketball courts, fitness rooms, yoga facilities, a 3D golf simulation room, and more.
